Therefore these ducts are strongly recommended in all mega projects especially in marine climatic conditions and corrosion prone area.
It is to be noted that all over the world HDPE ducts are preferred over metallic ducts.
There is no difference in the basic prices of HDPE & Metallic Sheathing ducts.
In overall cost of the structure, approx. 10% of the total project cost is spent on prestressing work including material. The amount spent towards actual cost of sheathing duct is about 10% of the prestressing work and if HDPE ducts are costlier by few percentage over metallic, the over all cost impact is negligible.
It is also to be noted that if the lesser values of m & k in PE ducts are considered right from the designing stage, there would be substantial saving in steel.
